Who do we serve?
On any given night in Contra Costa County there are almost 7,000 homeless men, women, and children, according to the county's Continuum of Care board. 68% are part of a homeless family with children.

How many people did we assist during this past year?
As an innovative leader, SHELTER, Inc. helps over 3,000 men, women and children in Contra Costa each year; almost half of them are children.

Where does our money come from?
Our $5.5 million annual budget for the June, 2007 fiscal year was funded through:
Grants and Contracts - 57%
Program Income - 27%
Contributions - 10%
Sale of Investment Properties,
Investments and Other - 6%

Where does the money go?
We maintain low fundraising costs, resulting in 94% of expenses going directly to client services and associated administration.
Client Services = 84%
Management and Administration = 10%
Development & Community Outreach = 6%

Management & Administration includes: Federal grant administration, client accounting and administration, administrative management and offices, insurance, utilities & technology infrastructure
Development & Community Outreach Includes: Grant development and administration, media and public relations, donor mail and newsletters, volunteer coordination.

STAND! (Stand Against Domestic Violence) for abuse issues and counseling
Bi-Bett Corporation for drug and alcohol issues
Independent Living Resource on disability issues
Anka Behavioral Health, Inc. for mental health counseling
